Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge! Challenge #203 Bye Bye Birdie Bye Bye Birdie Create a project with a bird on it. To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. Here is my project for the week: I took these pictures of my son, Dallas, way back in November 2013, and I'm just getting around to scraping them. This was his 6 year photo shoot, and they were taken outside his elementary school. I love the fall look of the pictures, with all the trees and the fall colors, so I wanted a scrapbook page that would reflect that as well. I used a lot of different cartridges to make this layout, but it was worth the extra effort. I used Cindy Loo for the tree, Doodlecharms for the leaves, Home Decor for the bird, Opposites Attract for the "T" in Thankful, and Cursive 101 for the rest of the word. I didn't like the T, so found one that I liked better. I used a Spectrum Noir marker to "edge" the leaves, Tim Hotz Tea Dye Distress Ink to ink the edges of the paper and the tree, colored in the bird using a red and orange Glaze pen, and then popped the bird up using some foam tape.

It challenge time over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. This week we are challenging you to link up a holiday card. Remember you have to use at least one Cricut Cut to be eligible for the prize from our sponsor.
So....I'm a couple of hours late posting this, sorry. My days are all mixed up as we have been stuck in the house since last Thursday because of an ice storm in our area. I'm going a bit crazy, it's hard to keep a 6 year old occupied, for days on end, without being able to spend much time outside. Plus, we watched Wreck it Ralph on Friday, and now he has watched it multiple times each day since. Actually, he is watching it again, for the 100th time, right now. Oh, well he likes it and it keeps him entertained for an hour at a time. So, I was super good and was able to get all my Christmas cards made during the Thanksgiving break. This is one of them, and I love how it turned out. I used the Doodlecharms cartridge to cut out the snow globe, and tore paper to create the snow banks. I recently joined the Stamps of Life "Die Hard" club and bought the "Christmas2buld" stamp set, which I love, and used for all the stamped elements on this card (the snowman, trees, snowflakes, and sentiment). Then I finished it off with some snowflake pattern paper, some pen work, and some green and white bakers twine. Oh, and I colored in the trees using a brown gelly roll pen and a green glaze pen. I made one in blue and one in pink, because well you never really know which color you might need. I cut out the bear using my Doodlecharms cartridge, then just layered it up with background paper, stamped the sentiment, added a little bit of ribbon, and finished it off with my white gelly roll pen.

My Craft Spot - Use Ribbon or Twine Wow, the last 6 weeks have been a crazy time. I have been working a lot, and as a result, just did not have time to do any crafting. I feel so behind and sad that I haven't had any time to create anything. I really do feel relaxed and ready to work when I have time to spend in my craftroom. Well I took today and tomorrow off from work to relax, and spend some much needed time hidden away from the world and crafting. It's funny, after so long away, I had a hard time deciding what to do first. I decided to make a card wth this super cute stamp set that I bought at the CK Scrapbook Convention back in Feb. I started by cutting out all the peices using my cricut. I actually used three different cartridges, Doodlecharms, Freshly Picked, and my new one, Elegant Edges. Why oh why did I wait so long to buy Elegant Edges, I love this cartridge and all the different things that you can do with it. I'm sure it will become a staple in my collection. Next, I cut the mat and the strips of pattern paper accents for the edge of the card. Then I attached the pattern paper and accent peices to the cards. I then stamped the image, "It takes a long time to grown an old friend" to the front. I love this saying, and think that I will be able to use the card in a lot of different ways. I felt that it needed something else, so I did a little pen work to frame the sentiment. Next, I turned my attention to the packet of "friend" seeds. I outlined the packet and flower using my purple gelly roll pen, added a rhinestone center to the flower, and stamped "Friend" to the top of the packet. Now all that is left to attach all the peices. I used a pop dot to lift the flower off the packet, and use one layer of foam tape to lift the sentiment and "Friend" packet, to give some depth. I really love how the card turned out and am looking forward to giving it away to someone. I started by cutting a big heart using the cricut so that I would have a pattern to follow. Then I cut out the small hearts using three different cricut cartridges and paper from my scrap stash. Then I attached the small hearts to the big heart, filling it in as I went. I also turned the small hearts different ways to add some interest. Next I attached the big heart to a white card. I wanted to colors to pop off the page. Then I stamped "Happy Valentines Day" at the bottom. At this point, I liked the card, but thought it needed something. So I outlined some of the small hearts in different patterns using a silver gel pen. That was just what it needed. I love this card, and think it would make a great Valentine's day gift for anyone. I have a sticker that says "Spit Happens" and I thought it was super cute and would make a great card, so I cut bottles using my Doodlecharms cricut cartridge. I inked the edges lightly using some Tim Holtz - tea dye distress ink. I printed out "Spit Happens" using my computer and cut it into a banner. I added a touch of ribbon and some pen work on each bottle just to give it a little something to stand out. I really love how they turned out. Materials Used:
